Still Life 2.1

The Past Three Days

June 26 - En route to the airport, an old fort in Delhi (none of the signboards I saw had a name on them, they just said stuff to the effect of heritage site).

June 25 - Quite liked the pun in the brand name!

June 24 - I actually wanted to photograph a large green synthetic flower in the hair of the woman sitting in the row ahead of me, but I knew I'd be found out if I held the mobile camera that high, so I settled for my own accessories to be the day's subject instead.

Making A Meal Of It

That was a handvo, a Gujarati snack, that didn't work too well. It wasn't fluffy, and eating even one piece was tiresome as it was so dense, so I quartered each piece and threw them into a tomato-onion-ginger-garlic gravy to soften it up - and it serves as a one-pot meal.

I wouldn't blame you for thinking it's a freshly-extracted ulcer, though! {Gross!}

Waiting For More

Now that the jackfruit has been simplified, the next thing to do is collect the seeds, either to roast them or finally attempt the curries I've been seeing all over the blogosphere.

What you see here is a plate filled with water in which the plate with the seeds is kept. (This is so that ants can't get at the seeds.) It lies next to the jackfruit segments and you're expected to wrest the seed out, place it in the plate and then eat the fruit. You are NOT allowed to eat the fruit and spit out the seed and place it in the plate.

Grappling With Bounty

K is a practised hand but cutting jackfruit does involve some grappling. More than the segments, I loved how the pictures of this turned out - and these filaments were riper and sweeter than them. Go here for much, much more!

Not Quite Cross Dressing

My mother and I went shopping this morning. It's usually male sales assistants in stores and they show off the sari pretty well.
On another note, an aunt of mine refuses to buy a sari if an assistant (or anybody else) drapes it to show it off, however helpfully.

The Freshly Scrubbed Look

I scrubbed this pineapple clean with a toothbrush before I cut it, and then thought it might make a good picture.

Grey Day, Green View

We had some rain today and that made for some cool weather. This picture was taken as I was waiting for someone to answer the doorbell when we went visiting.

Today's Shots

Meals on Wheels, or rather, Tandoori on Wheels!

Something being inaugurated somewhere - I really don't know what it was, except that this is a new mall, still to be occupied.

Basket Case

The wires and chargers for various devices were making for a very untidy scene and I had been on the lookout for a container to put them in - I found these small baskets in a shop that sells objets d'art. I also got one for the four remote controls we have.
